The Khalistan Conspiracy: A Former R&AW Officer Unravels the Path to 1984
26th January 2021. Like so many proud Indians, I woke up excited. I wanted to watch the Republic Day parade! The cream of the Indian army would march with clockwork precision. The tanks. The BSF Camel division, where beautifully decked camels would march in unison. The wonderful tableaus! After breakfast I wanted to rest for a while. Therefore I took a small nap. I then walked into the hall, had one look at the television and was shell shocked! Hordes of "Farmers" were invading the Red Fort. Many of them appeared to belong to the Sikh community. Many of the "protesters" were displaying wired flags, flags I had not seen before. Yellow flags. Green Flags. Many appeared to be orthodox Sikhs. A couple of rogues eventually removed the "Tiranga", the Indian flag and raised another flag in it's place. This was one of the most shameful incidents I had witnessed. I was enraged! The Delhi police seemed to be grappling with the situation in the best way possible. They faced the brunt of this demonstration.
I was disillusioned! I had always grown up with great respect for the Sikh gurus and the Guru Granth Sahib! I never felt that Sikhism is a different religion. I always felt that they were soldier saints who appeared to protect Bharatavarsha. Now I was feeling bitter and thinking, why are Sikhs against Hinduism and India.
After the shameful incident, the Delhi police uncovered a Khalisthani conspiracy. I wondered, what is this Khalisthani conspiracy. I had only heard about them in passing all these years.
Then while I was casually browsing the Kindle store, I laid eyes upon this book by G.B.S.Sidhu.
The author was a former officer with the Research and Analytics Wing (R&AW). He witnessed first hand, how some power hungry politicians (A particular family) in collusion with some ruthless characters created the extremist Bindranwale. The loss of the Congress in Punjab, and it's humiliating loss post the emergency, led them to create a divide between 2 communities :- Hindus and Sikhs, where none existed. In fact, for many generations, the Sikhs were not considered as a separate religion!
Innocent people will become playthings in the hands of ruthless power hungry politicians who are unscrupulous!
A former president, whom I always looked upon with respect, turned out to be one of the masterminds. They raised the stature of Bindranwale to counter the Akalis in Punjab. They kept shielding Bindranwale and his goons and made sure that Punjab was destabilized to the worst extent possible. The fact that Punjab is a border state never occurred to these unscrupulous politicians!
By doing so, they won the next elections with a thumping victory. Bindranwale started murdering innocent Sikhs who did not agree with him and Hindus. The congress agents in Haryana and Rajasthan started targeting Sikhs and killing them. The Congress thought they would be benefited by it greatly!
But in time, like all despots, power went into the head of Bindranwale. When he could have been easily imprisoned, the congress gave him security and literally were feeding a poisonous serpent who would come back to bite them in their corrupt behinds!
Finally Bindranwale took up residence in the Golden temple and started running a parallel government. He had an ex-servicement Shahbeg Singh build defenses and train hardline militants.
Eventually the government had to do something. And instead of doing a heliborne operation or a covert operation which would have probably helped capture the militants alive, causing minimal damage to the Hallowed Golden Temple, the army was called in along with tanks to storm the holiest site of Sikhism! Unfortunately, it came to pass that after the murderous Ahmed Shah Abdali had desecrated the sacred Harmandir Sahib and the lake surrounding it, it was the turn of puppets under the control of the Congress government who stormed the Golden temple, caused considerable damage to the property. They also supposedly killed many innocent pilgrims inside the temple complex. This irked Sikhs all over the world. Finally, though intelligence agencies had warned Mrs.Gandhi in the aftermath of operation Blue Star, not to have personal bodyguards of Sikh origin, the advice was somehow ignored. Finally Mrs.Gandhi was assassinated. What followed was a pogrom where many innocent Sikhs were killed. The pogrom was overseen by the state. The prime minister Rajiv Gandhi even defended the Pogrom saying "When a huge tree is felled, there is bound to be tremors!". While all this happened, it created a divide between Hindus and Sikhs, where there was none to begin with. The lines were always blurred between the two communities.
It appeared as though Pakistan's intelligence agency, the ISI, which was nursing a humiliating loss to India in the eastern front with the creation of Bangladesh in 1972, got a very big gift in the form of the Khalistani movement (A hitherto unheard of, and baseless movement). Behold India! This is how the family which some people still revere as God like, and the rightful heir to the throne of Bharatavarsha has betrayed the nation. Just to come to power, they had stooped so low. And they continue doing so.
Reading this book made me understand that, all these years, when there was no information about Khalistani elements, why suddenly it came to the lime light! I see the hand of ISI, China and perhaps even the scion of that family. They are all in this together. Weep oh, India. For traitors are aplenty in your land!
This is a very nice book. It is a page turner! The events are narrated in proper order and in a no-nonsense way. The author is very methodical in his research. More reassuring is the fact that the author is a true patriot, and one who wishes for the welfare of the nation. I think every Indian, especially Sikhs should read this book!
